Manufacturer and distributor of fiberglass, ceramic and silica tapes for a wide range of high temperature industrial applications.

Among the heat resistant tapes offered by AGIS are:

FIBERGLASS TAPE: Resists temps up to 1800°F

PLAIN. AGIS plain fiberglass tape is a tightly woven tape manufactured from texturized fiberglass yarn; it contains no compound, cement or wire. Selvaged edge will not fray or unravel. Meets U.S. Coast Guard requirements for incombustible material. Used in service conditions characterized by temperatures to 1000 F. Retains 50% tensile strength at 700 F and as much as 25 % at 1000 F. Will not swell, stretch, shrink or change chemically during prolonged exposure to water.

Premium Grade. Densely woven tape features surface-applied heat treatment.

Applications: Tadpole gasket covering, flange gasketing, oven door seals, pipe wrapping and insulation

Commercial Grade. Looser weave than premium grade, not heat treated.

Applications: Flange gasketing, oven door seals, pipe wrapping and insulation

BOLT-HOLE. AGIS bolt-hole fiberglass tape (also known as drop-warp tape) is a tightly woven tape manufactured from texturized fiberglass yarn; it contains no compound, cement or wire. Selvaged edge will not fray or unravel. Similar construction as plain tape, but without fill yarns in the center of the tape; this permits easy bolt insertion in flange gasketing requirements. Not heat treated.

Densely woven tape.

Applications: Tadpole gasket covering, flange gasketing, oven door seals, pipe wrapping and insulation

Commercial Grade. Looser weave than premium grade..

Applications: Flange gasketing, oven door seals, pipe wrapping and insulation

PLAIN, VERMICULITE COATED This is a plain, tightly woven tape manufactured from texturized fiberglass yarn, coated with a special vermiculite compound and dyed blue. Meets U.S. Coast Guard requirements for incombustible material. Used in service conditions characterized by temperatures to 1800 F. Will not swell, stretch, shrink or change chemically during prolonged exposure to water. Because of the vermiculite coating, the tensile strength and chemical resistance are greatly enhanced over plain fiberglass tape.

Applications: Tadpole gasket covering, flange gasketing, oven door seals, pipe wrapping and insulation

BOLT-HOLE, VERMICULITE COATED Manufactured as drop warp tape (bolt hole tape). Similar construction as plain tape, but without fill yarns in the center of the tape; this permits easy bolt insertion in flange gasketing requirements.

Applications: Tadpole gasket covering, flange gasketing, oven door seals, pipe wrapping and insulation

RUBBERIZED FOLDED GASKETING TAPE. Style P37G is a tightly woven fiberglass base tape with a unique SBR rubber coating. The coating allows the rubber to seep into imperfections in the sealing surfaces and, when hardened, creates an airtight seal. Suitable in service conditions where temperatures and pressure do not exceed 380 F and 180 PSI respectively. May be manufactured to virtually any thickness and length by layering the 1/16" thick plies of material and then calendering them.

Options: Available with brass wire insert when greater tensile strength is required.

Applications: Wherever an airtight seal is critical.

TADPOLE TAPE: Resists temps up to 3000°F

Named because of its end view configuration, appearing as a head and tail of a tadpole. The core (or head) consists of a bulb, which is the sealing area; the tail is used for fastening. Used where limited bolting force is available and where gasket must conform to uneven surfaces.

SEWN FIBERGLASS, CERAMIC OR SILICA. Style P61G is designed for service temps in the 400 - 3000 F range. Covers are machine-sewn and may include the following materials/configurations:

  • Fiberglass cover and bulb
  • Inconel wire-inserted ceramic cover and ceramic rope bulb
  • Inconel mesh core (when subjected to repeated door opening and closing)
  • Teflon® impregnated fiberglass cover (where chemical resistance is crucial)
  • 304SS mesh cover (where additional abrasion resistance and durability are required).
  • Other cover/core combinations available:
    • To 1000 F: Glass cover, glass core
      Glass cover, inconel mesh core
    • To: 1600 F: Silica cover, ceramic core
      Silica cover, inconel mesh core
    • To: 2300 F: Ceramic cover, ceramic core
      Ceramic cover, inconel mesh core

CERAMIC TAPE: Resists temps up to 2300°F

WOVEN CERAMIC FIBER A superior insulating tape capable of withstanding temperatures to 2300 F. Excellent resistance to thermal shock, corrosive attack, breakdown due to mechanical vibration and stress. Contains approximately 20% organic fiber. Alternative inserts: Inconel wire is inserted for greater tensile strength; suitable for temps to 2300 F. A glass filament may be inserted for use as a dielectric, suitable for temps to 1200 F.

Options: For personnel protection and fire retardation, heat treated tape is recommended. Heat treatment removes the organic fibers, but reduces the thickness and strength of the tape slightly.

About AGIS, LLC

Founded in 2001, the Ambler, PA firm is a manufacturer and a distributor of  boiler accessories, gaskets, seals, O-rings, mechanical packing, tape, cloth and other high-temperature, heat-resistant sealing & industrial products for a wide variety of  industrial and marine applications; distributor of Topog-E® boiler gaskets; die-cutting services.

AGIS sealants are used in virtually every industry throughout the world, including chemical processing, petroleum, waste/water treatment, steel & mining, food processing, boiler, steam, plant maintenance, power generation, metals/heat treating, transportation and marine, pulp & paper manufacturing, to name a few.

Among the recommended uses for AGIS sealants are: general service, brine, cold water, cold oil, high-pressure rams and accumulators and high-speed shafts, gasoline, oil, asphalt, steam, air, alkalines, solvents, gases, ammonia, mild acids, phosphate esters, hot and cold water, solvents and air, alkalis, pump packing in mining service, dryers, blenders, cookers and mixers, sewage treatment, granular and abrasive service, slurry pumps, sludge pumps, dredge pumps, extruders and mud pumps

Because service conditions vary widely, AGIS sealants are manufactured in many forms, such as gaskets, rope, tape and mechanical packing, and in a wide range of materials, including natural fiber, rubber, compressed fiber, fiberglass, ceramics fiber, graphite, Teflon, metal, Kevlar, carbon-Inconel and GFO, among others. Within our huge inventory are sealants capable of withstanding extremes of temperature, pressure or corrosive attack present in even the harshest service environment.
